For a start some scumbag broke into my car on Friday night.
My driver’s window was smashed in completely, showering the inside of the car with green glass. My cardigan and my mother-in-law’s jacket were stolen. Yes, that was it!!! Hope those garments were worth all the aggro.
This has been a lesson to me, not to leave anything at all inside my car, even if it is “only a cardigan” (obviously I would never leave valuables anyway). It just goes to show people will nick anything – although, saying that, they didn’t steal any of my music collection! The glove compartment, where I keep my tapes, was opened but obviously they decided there was nothing worth nicking out of there! Does that say a lot about my tastes?! Oh, you have to laugh, else you’d cry.
To cheer myself up on Saturday, I e-mailed a spur-of-the-moment request to the lovely Alan Carr, whose Radio 2 show I love on a Saturday night, for “a cheery, cheesy song to cheer me up after having my car broken into!!”
I never for one minute thought he would actually read out my request, especially as it was his co-presenter Mel Sykes’s 40th birthday on Saturday so I thought the show was just going to be crammed with happy birthday messages and I would have no chance of getting on. But I did!!!!
Alan read out my request word for word just after the 7:00 news. And it really did cheer me up! I was sporting a silly grin all night.
Here is the link to the show on BBC iPlayer:
He played Midas Touch by Midnight Star – an 80s disco hit I confess I had never actually heard before – for me. You can hear my bit at 1h 6m 45s!
