After finishing Surviving Sting in three days, I am now into my current favourite author Paul McDonald’s next novel, the strikingly titled Kiss Me Softly, Amy Turtle. It’s another hilarious one. He writes about the often surreal nature of Black Country life in such a witty, leap-off-the-page style.
I absolutely refuse to give up hope that my own Black Country sagas will one day make it into print, but in the meantime am enjoying these. The area is criminally under-represented in literature.
Apparently Paul is a Creative Writing lecturer at Wolverhampton Uni. What an inspiration he must be to those undergraduates. I can’t believe I only discovered him a week ago, on a routine trawl of the library.
